Hydrostatic Testing
We perform hydrostatic testing of each pipe to test the pressure integrity of the product.

Each pipe is hydrostatic tested full-length subsequent to upsetting (if applicable) and subsequent to final heat treatment (as applicable) to the hydrostatic testing pressures specified by API.  For pipe requiring heat treatment, the hydrostatic testing takes place after the final heat treatment has been performed.

The hydrostatic testing procedure begins by filling each pipe with water and pressurizing the water to the various API requirements for each pipe size (tubing and casing sizes ranging from 1.050 to 13.375 OD) and grade (H40, J55, L80, N80, P110, etc.) to discover any possible defects.

After the pipe has passed hydrostatic testing inspection, the pipe can be threaded.  Sim-Tex personnel perform periodic audits of the hydrostatic testing lines to ensure API specifications are met regarding the pressure and duration the water is utilized during the hydrostatic testing.
