Upsetting
Generally, before tubes are threaded, a hot forge process is applied to each end to increase the wall thickness. This upset process allows the pipe to maintain consistent strength throughout the tube and the added wall thickness is required for threading. Sim-Tex offers tubing with standard API upsets or selected premium upsets.

Heat Treatment
We can upgrade carbon-grade material for both tubing and casing through the heat treatment process. Heat treatment is the controlled heating and cooling of metals to alter their physical properties without changing the product shape. We provide the following heat treatment processes - quench and temper, and normalizing

Normalizing
Normalizing is a process where steel is heated above its upper critical temperature and air-cooled. This process ensures that the entire length of the tube is of the same grain structure and composition.

Quenching & Tempering
The process of Quenching and Tempering is important because it improves the mechanical properties of the material. The oil and gas drilling industry has for years used quench and tempered steel tubulars in the production of oil and gas.
