Charles "Chuck" Scianna
Founder
After graduating from Southern Miss, Chuck moved to Houston to work for Houston Systems Manufacturing Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Offshore Company, where he began as a project coordinator for drilling equipment. He was later promoted to Assistant Controller and Contract Administrator before joining Geosource Oil Tool Division as Sales Manager.
Chuck continued his career with Oilfield Pump and Equipment, where he served as Controller and was promoted to President in 1979. Under his leadership, the company expanded into five divisions before being sold in 1982. In 1983, he became Controller of Ralson Pipe Services, a processor of API OCTG, and was later promoted to Vice President of Sales.
In 1986, Chuck co-founded Sim-Tex and, through his relationship with the founder of Hyundai Pipe, secured the company's position as the exclusive U.S. distributor for Hyundai OCTG until 2018. Sim-Tex also distributed OCTG from leading Korean, European, and domestic manufacturers. From 1998 through 2018, Sim-Tex was also the exclusive U.S. distributor for Benteler seamless OCTG.
Chuck's commitment to service extended well beyond the business community. In 2014, he received the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation's Heritage Award in recognition of his unique and significant contributions to preserving the history and traditions of the United States Marine Corps. He served on the Board of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation beginning in 2008, including on its Executive Committee during two major fundraising campaigns. He also served on the Board of Boys and Girls Country in Hockley, Texas, the Waller Economic Development Corporation, the Finance Council of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Bellville, Texas, and was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 9268. Chuck and Rita generously supported numerous charitable organizations, including the Waller County Fair Association, the Austin County Fair Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and The Weekly YMCA.
The Scianna family's commitment to education has also left a lasting legacy. In 2015, the University of Southern Mississippi named its new College of Business building Scianna Hall, and William Carey University named its business building on the Mississippi Gulf Coast campus Scianna Hall in recognition of the family's support of higher education.
Following Chuck's passing, Sim-Tex remains proudly family-owned and operated. His daughters, Ashley Sciba and Stephanie Latham, now serve as the owners of the company, carrying forward the values, relationships, and commitment to excellence established by their father. Together, with the leadership of CEO Clint Sciba, they are committed to honoring Chuck's legacy while continuing to grow the business and provide exceptional service to customers throughout the energy industry.
Today, Sim-Tex continues to provide high-quality OCTG products from both domestic and international sources. The company has built a reputation for quality, exceptional service, dependability, and standing behind every product it sells. As a second-generation family business, Sim-Tex remains focused on building lasting partnerships and serving the energy industry with the same integrity, professionalism, and customer-first philosophy on which Chuck founded the company.
